09Feb Ubuntu Hardy, Alpha 5
Great news to the next alpha for the upcoming Ubuntu 8.04!
To everyone who got interested in my last post, this version already ships all the mtp stuff needed to connect to those new creative mp3 players. I’ve worked a bit myself on it, by merging the latest libmtp.
Another great feature is the disk manager. From now on, whenever you plug in a new disk, you can graphically set it. Not aware of fstab? Not needed anymore!

Shouldn’t it read?:
“New partitions have been detected and can now be configured. Click on this icon to configure them.”
vs.
“New partitions “has” been detected” which sounds improper.

Guess so..
I think you can suggest that to the author, he’s got his contact in the project’s home page: http://flomertens.free.fr/disk-manager/contact.html

Who needs proprietary protocols anyway? Why can’t people just use UMS players, like iriver?

There I have to disagree Sikon.
The bad thing is when a company chooses proprietary protocols for their devices! But we have to agree, these Creative Zen’s and the Ipods are way better than those irivers. Despite the issues I had with my Zen, I’m very happy with it, and I haven’t bought an Ipod only due to the overpricing!

Don’t you think you should have posted a picture of the disk manager itself, instead of this?

It’s still very beta! The interface will probably change. I’m just letting you know that it exists
For more infos, I’ve left the link in the text

This is just misinformation. There’s no Disk Manager in Alpha 5. Refer to the release notes at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/hardy/alpha5 for official information.

Murat,
if you check the launchpad specification page, https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/disk-manager-by-default you can see it as a milestone for hardy alpha 5.It was not wrong information, since I’ve said that it was a milestone, way before the release of Alpha5! You can read ‘next alpha’.
Still, indeed, it was not included Alpha5.

It has no assignee, drafter or approver. It should be obvious that it hasn’t been discussed, and that no work has been done on it.

Aha. You answered my question here. Ignore my comment on the MTP post hahaha
Thanks! (:
